Typha angustifolia L. (oriental cattail)

Family typhaceae

Being a perennial aquatic plant standing above the water, the Typha angustifolia L. (oriental cattail) has its rhizome rooted in the mud, with the stem standing highly above the water, up to 210 cm tall. The leaves are quite long and the cylindrical spikes are divided into two sections, whose upper half is male and thin while the lower half is female and thick. Though of the typhaceae family, it is not the same as the cattail.
