Pnogamia Pinnata (Poongaoil)
Family leguminosae
Being a deciduous tree and native to seaside surroundings, the Pnogamia Pinnata (poongaoil) is well adapted to the environment. It is windproof and drought-enduring plant; what’s more, it can also serve as an ornamental plant. Its leaves are odd-numbered pinnately compound leaves, opposite leaflets with a length from 5 to 7 centimeters and width from 2.5 to 4.5 centimeters. The flowers are pink fabaceae, usually bloom in autumn, yet, occasionally they blossom in between spring and summer. The poongaoil has flat pods, with a seed in each one. The fruit is highly salt-tolerant. Besides, it is so light that it can drift along with the tide and multiply, thus making it a sea-drifting plant. The oil from its seeds can cure skin diseases.
