Malpighia glabracv Flovida (West Indian cherry)

An evergreen shrub with simple and opposite leaves, pink flowers, red, edible, but sour fruit, the Malpighia glabracv Flovida (West Indian cherry) is the plant known to have the highest Vitamin C content of all fruits. Near the Instruction Pond and entrance to the Water Plant Dormitory of Niaosong Wetland Park grow many West Indian cherries. Its ripe fruit always attract hordes of birds coming to forage.
When spotting the Malpighia glabracv Flovida in the Park, many people form the question: Isn’t it the West Indian cherry? Exactly, that’s the plant’s another English name. But to differentiate it from the Jamaican Cherry, we just call it the West Indian cherry.
