Rana guentheri (Gunther's Amoy frog)

Family ranidae/ protected species

Growing up to a length of 10 centimeters, the Rana guentheri (Gunther's Amoy frog) is slender and stout in hind legs, suitable for jumping. It has a golden yellow or brown back, black spots on white body sides, and a ring of white circular marks around eardrum. Distributed in rice paddies, ditches, and ponds of plains and low altitude areas, it likes to hide among aquatic plants. During breeding seasons, its sounds, sounding rather like “barking” sounds of dogs, will be heard all day.
