The Ischnura senegalensis (common bluetail) is a common damselfly, preferring to perch in the underbrush near ponds. The male butterfly is black from above the abdomen and yellow green on the sides. Its compound eyes are black on the upper part and light green on the lower. The eighth and ninth segments are water green and the top of ninth and tenth are black. The immature female has an orange thorax.
