Ideopsis similis (Ceylon blue glassy tiger)

Family Nymphalidae

The adult Ideopsis similis (Ceylon blue glassy tiger) lives in places of ground level and low to intermediate mountain areas. It has dark brown wings with light green stripe spots, and its main feature is that on the fore wing fronts near the bases is a fine band of green stripe breaking into two parts, with the upper part slender and the lower part stubby. No conspicuous difference exits between the two sexes. It is habitual for the Ceylon blue glassy tiger to collectively migrate to the south for winter. It likes visiting flowers and gathering nectar. The fodder of its larvae is ovate-leaf tylophoras.
