Dysdercus cingulatus (red cotton stainer)

Family pyrrhocoridae

Having an orange red head and pronotum, a horizontal white stripe on the neck, a black small shield, black dots on the inside of coriaceous parts of fore wings, black membranes, the Dysdercus cingulatus (red cotton stainer) resides in ground level and low altitude mountain areas. It feeds on cotton plants and likes communal life, with adults and nymphs living together. It looks like the Dysdercus poecilus but smaller. Black spots on the inside center of its coriaceous wings merge together.
