With a length of 10 centimeters, the Riparia paludicola (African sand martin) has a dull brown back, a dirty white prone surface, and slightly split tail feathers with no tail forks. It often shows its appearance around riverbeds and ponds of the plains in groups. Loving to fly low or just above the water surface, the African sand martin builds its nest at sandy shores or sand dunes of watery banks.
