Location of Appearance: Planting Reserved Area and the east side of the Wooden Trail.
With a length of 22 centimeters, the Pomatorhinus ruficollis (Taiwan scimitar-babbler) has a down-curved beak, with the upper half black and the lower half yellow. Its legs are lead gray, the back and tail coverts are dark brown, the neck all the way to upper back is red brown, eyeliners are dark black, eyebrows and throat up to the chest are white, with the chest having brown stripes, and the abdomen is chestnut brown variegated with white spots. It appears in broadleaf forests and bushes in low to intermediate altitude areas singly or in small groups. It likes to hide in secrecy and chirps with multi-loud sounds, often letting out “tut, tut” or “keguay, keguay” sounds.
