With a length of 13 centimeters, the Hirundo tahitica (pacific swallow) has black back, tail feathers with slight bifurcation, russet red shade on the brow and throat, light grayish brown on the abdomen, and black tail coverts with white scaly stripes under the wings. When flying, its coverts under the wings show gray-black color. It frequently shows up in places from plains to low elevation areas. It is the most spotted kind of swan in Taiwan. Its chirping sounds often accompany its flight. It builds its nest at the corner near the wall roof, with the shape like a half bowl.
