With a length of 19 centimeters, the Hirundo striolata (striated swallow) has a black back, rust-red waist, black tail feathers with deep bifurcation, long stripes of light red eyebrow spots, light brown shade with black fine lines on the face and abdomen. When flying, its coverts under the wings show light orange color with fine, thin, vertical stripes of spots. It frequently shows up from plains to low elevation areas. Only a small proportion of the Hirundinidae family are resident birds. The largest of them can fly with high speed, often doing taxing movements, letting out chirping sounds, and perching on the electric wire. It builds its nest in groups at the roof, with the shape like a tunnel.
