The length of the Dendrocitta formosae (Treepie) is 34 centimeters. It has a black forehead, with gray shade from head to hind neck. Its back is mostly dark brown, with white-spotted black wings. The waist and tail feathers are light gray. It has long black tail feathers. The chest and abdomen are dirty-white. It often singly or with small group shows up on the top layer of broad leaved forests on the ground or at medium elevations. When flying, it takes a wavy route, accompanied by “quack, quack, quack”sounds, which gives it the nickname of “Quack Aberdeen.”
